Pennwell Offers Video Tour of Their New Web Site
The Woodlands, TX - April 3, 2006 - How to you organize and present thousands of news and technical articles in an easy to use web site? That was the question designers at Pennwell faced when looking to rebuild and launch their flagship publication - The Oil & Gas Journal (OGJ). The Oil & Gas Journal, first published in 1902, is the world's most widely read petroleum industry publication.
"The amount of information in the OGJ's database is mind boggling" said Rich Ledden, the Marketing Manager for the company. For over 100 years OGJ delivered the latest international oil and gas news; analysis of issues and events; practical technology for design, operation and maintenance; and important statistics on international markets and activity. The Oil & Gas Journal is designed to meet the needs of engineers, oil management and executives throughout the oil and gas industry. The group also produces targeted e-Newsletters, hosts global conferences and exhibitions, seminars and forums, directories and technical books, print and electronic databases, surveys and maps.
After months of trials and testing, the designers hit upon a streamlined way to present the information. Even so, there was a lot of information here, and Pennwell needed a way to demonstrate the power of the new site to their readers and advertisers. Pennwell turned to the epic software group, inc. of the Woodlands, Texas to help create an innovative video tour. This five minute presentation would showcase the key features, sections and search capabilities of the new site, so anyone could quickly understand how to get the most from using it.
Pennwell decided that the best place to introduce their new web site was at the upcoming Offshore Technology Conference in May, but that was only a month away. epic would have to bring all its production resources into play to meet the deadline. Ledden wrote the tour script, and worked closely with the epic team on every element of the tour from the visuals on the screen, to the voice narration, packaging and fulfillment. Over 2000 CD's were duplicated and packaged in a unique display folder designed by Ledden, and the web site was demonstrated for the first time at the show. Today, thousands of visitors use this resource from all regions of the world to gather information on news and technical advances in the oil and gas industry.
