Cliff Jones Receives Scholarship from epic software group

The Woodlands, TX, May 1, 2001 - Cliff Jones, a senior at Magnolia High School, will receive a Scholarship Grant for his outstanding work in the field of Multimedia Development. The presentation will be made by Vic Cherubini, President of the epic software group at the Magnolia High School Awards Ceremony on May 8, 2001.

"Over the past year Cliff has demonstrated his knowledge in computer science, 3D graphics, and multimedia development," said Cherubini. Cliff was the primary author of a new book just released by Random House called Macromedia Game Development - from Concept to Creation. The book is comprised of 15 arcade games inspired by such classics as Pac Man, Pong, Simon, and Go. "In each chapter of the book, we take the reader step-by-step through the development process explaining the source code and use of graphics and animation," continued Cherubini.

Jones will continue to work at epic software group over the summer where he will lead a team of highly talented interns and oversee their work on web site design, and multimedia game development. Jones has been accepted and plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall where he will study computer science. He is now working on the second book in the series - Macromedia Director Interface Design - from Concept to Creation, which is scheduled for release in July of this year.

Jones described his experience at epic as "an invaluable lesson in the mechanics of the multimedia business". Jones went on to say, "The internship at epic has given me a chance to develop my skills in a number of areas such as graphic design, animation, programming, and to appreciate the importance of teamwork in a business environment. I recommend internship programs to any student who is serious about gaining real-world experience in his or her chosen profession."
