Sam Houston was a 19th century American statesman, politician, and soldier. Houston was a very important figure in the history of Texas, where he served as the President of the Republic of Texas, Senator for Texas after it joined the United States, and finally as governor. It may be hard to believe, but his story had never been fully told in a documentary, until release of Sam Houston - American Statesman, Soldier and Pioneer.
The project is the vision of Executive Producer and native Texan Denton Florian who began assembling the team late in 2005. To tell the story, over 30 hours of film and hundreds of photographs are being edited into a 3 hour production. Dr. Patrick Nolan, Director of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum in Huntsville, TX said, "The Sam Houston Project is the largest collection of data, images, video, documents, and historical information on Sam Houston anywhere in the world." The objective of this web site is to make as much of that information as possible accessible to the public, to educators, and to their students.
