Overview

Founded in 1937, The RectorSeal Corporation is a leading manufacturer of chemical specialty sealants and other related products designed for professional tradesmen. These products are distributed exclusively through an extensive wholesale distribution network serving the plumbing, industrial, HVAC-Refrigeration, construction, electrical, and hardware markets.

The company sells over 170 different products including thread sealants, firestopping sealants, plastic pipe cements, anti-seize compounds, fluxes, lubricants, chemical cleaners, duct sealants, leak locators and other specialized products.

Most of these products were developed by RectorSeal, but some were added to the line through a number of company acquisitions. The challenge here was to integrate these products under one corporate umbrella and unify the brand. Each product carries with it, sales and technical information, Material Product Data Sheets (MSDS), installation guidelines, building specifications, and some have videos and multimedia presentations.

Developing a web site that could be easily updated and administered by RectorSeal and hosting it externally were the primary goals at the outset of the project.
 
Solutions
  • Created a design document that logically grouped the company's products together to speed navigation.
  • Created a new look to integrate the colors and style required to meet company guidelines.
  • Developed a powerful search engine that will help customers find products with fuzzy searches (i.e. No. 5, #5, and Number 5 all return information on the same product).
  • Scripted, storyboarded, shot, edited and posted a number of videos demonstrating RetcorSeal products in action.
  • Client administered content to allow for routine changes to be made without the need to return to epic
  • Shot custom photography on location, and in the studio of RectorSeal products for use online, in print coleteral and at trade shows.
  • Installed Google Analytics to allow tracking and reporting of web site activity.
  • Hosted, maintained and provided ongoing support for the site since 2005.

  • RectorSeal customers are now able to find specific production and installation information quickly and easily.
  • New videos have been created and added to the site.
  • Custom photography that clearly and creatively shows the RectorSeal products in action
  • Brand and company marks are more uniformly used across the web site.
