May 24, 2012 - More students from Aveda Institutes prepared for a professional fashion shoot with epic photographer Joey Mouton in order to display their skills. Such a shoot allows the graduating students to pick the best shots as material for their portfolios. This provides them with valuable real-world experience before they leave school and an advantage in the job market.
Each of the sixteen ladies had one model, and was required to pick a theme. Their theme should be reflected in the models’ hair, makeup, and clothing, as well as any props used in the shoot. This provided the student with an active role in managing how her portion of the shoot operated.
An element that was key in this session was lighting. The way a subject is lit can change an image dramatically. This was something else that was kept in mind to complement each of the students’ themes. The lighting around each model was changed to suit the model, soften features, or create a more striking look. This shoot allowed each student to see the effects a few adjustments can make.
We were particularly excited for this shoot because it gave us the opportunity to use the new Creative Co-op for our own purposes for the first time. This brand new facility features a spacious studio and the ideal environment for photography of this nature. The students were excited to use a professional studio, which added to the energy of the shoot.
To the right are a few examples of the work produced from this latest shoot. We enjoyed working with these students and are optimistic about future projects with Aveda Institute.
