November 18, 2009 - Congratulations are in order to BMA Houston 2009 Lantern Awards Chair Stephanie Robertson and her volunteer committee for yet another successful event, and an evening to remember. Over 380 people attended the awards ceremony, and in the process, have helped kick off the funding for our 2010 student Internship and Scholarship programs.
While most marketing budgets were severely cut this past year, you would not know it by the quality of the work displayed on the 43rd floor of the Petroleum Club. I always like to attend these events because I come away inspired by the work of those who are faced with communicating information about complex products and services to the business community.
Congratulations are also in order to all the finalists and award winners. George Foster, the founder of Foster Marketing was given the BMA Lifetime Achievement Award. The fact George still has his first client (after 30 years in business) is a testament to his work and success. He has also been a big supporter of our chapter as a BMA Board Member, his participation in the BMA Annual Auction, and of course his commitment to our Student Assistance programs. Way to go George – enjoy your day in the sun, you earned it!
The venue for the event includes 360 degree panoramic views of the city from the top of the Exxon-Mobil building. When we have the Lantern’s on a beautiful day, the late afternoon transition from daylight, to twilight and finally to darkness is magical.
Since we had an official event photographer, you will find photos on the official web site at: www.lanternawards.com in the near future. To the right are some photos I shot to remember the evening. Enjoy!
