October 14, 2011 - Imagine a private high school trying to raise over 7 million dollars for a new sports complex in today's economy. Talk about a challenge! How do you helps sponsors, alumni, families and friends understand your vision for converting a run down YMCA facility into a state-of-the-art athletic facility? This is the task given to Silver Rock Productions for their client Westbury Christian, a private school in southwest Houston. Silver Rock was charged with creating a video for a capital campaign gala with Bobby Bowden, the famous coach of University of Florida, would MC. This would have to be one emotional video to get the financial support they needed to buy and rebuild the old Y.
Silver Rock asked epic to meet with Westbury Christian to determine if it would be possible to create a 3D animated fly through of the YMCA with all the specific detail they had in mind. The head coach and Headmaster at the school had been thinking about their new facility for some time, and they had just about every part of it figured out. But at this point it was all in their heads - the only source material we had to work with was a small 2D graphic created for a post card the school used to promote the event. To make it even more interesting the gala was scheduled just five weeks from our first meeting. They did pledge to help us with the visualization every step of the way, and that made all the difference in the world. Here is how we did it.

April 28, 2011 - Houston is the place to be, at least if your in the oil and gas industry. The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2011) sets it sites on Houston the week of May 2nd. Founded in 1969, the Offshore Technology Conference is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection. The OTC attracts over 60,000 visitors and 2,000 exhibitors each year. One of the exhibitors participating in the 2011 OTC show is Oil States Industries, Inc., and this year we had a chance to help them with a really cool multimedia presentation.
Oil States, Inc is a leading manufacturer of deepwater production products and subsea pipelines. The company prides itself on providing innovative solutions for industry demands. Mike Lazzari, owner of ProForma BrandCentric Solutions and friend of epic, partnered with us to revitalize the conference presentation and showcase some new products and services for Oil States. Oil States attends more than a dozen conferences a year so staying fresh and innovative with their presentation is very important. Our challenge was to rework the interface for use on new touch screen monitors they purchased just for the show. It turned out to be more difficult then we imagined.

August 25, 2009 - There is always a feeling of serendipity when I'm thumbing through a trade magazine, surfing the web, or watching TV and come across an illustration, photo or animation epic created, and now see it actually being used in context. Sometimes, we work weeks or months on an assignment, turn it over to the client, and never see how it was actually used.
That happened recently when the latest issue of Drilling Contractor landed on my desk. While looking through it, I came across an illustration we did for BJ Services for their DirectStim product ("provides acid stimulation for broader payzone coverage"). We were commissioned to create the illustration for their Annual Report and for corporate sales presentations, so we were happy to see it was also being used in the trade press.
