Epic software group Selected to Create Animated Logo for 2012 Lombardi Award Broadcast

November 28, 2012 - On December 5th, the 43rd Annual Rotary Lombardi Awards Ceremony will take place on CBS TV, and the animated logo for the show was created by the artists and animators at the epic software group.  The Rotary Lombardi Award is presented annually to the college football lineman — offense or defense — who, in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the discipline of Vince Lombardi.  As the legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers, Lombardi first made a name for himself as the smallest but toughest member of Fordham University’s “Seven Blocks of Granite”, renowned in their day (1934-37) for being the most unyielding line in college football.

Appropriately, the trophy is a 40-pound block of granite atop a silver pedestal built over a foundation of discipline.  The Award was initiated by the Rotary Club in 1970 shortly after the death of Vince Lombardi to cancer. Funds raised by the organization benefit the American Cancer Society.  Moving into its 43rd year, the Rotary Lombardi Award is now a two day event culminating with a nationally televised “prime time” event. Since 1970, millions have been raised to help programs of cancer research, public education, and direct services to cancer patients

Rick Slemaker, Chairman of the event, said "CBS TV requested an HD quality logo animation for the show intro and to be used at various times during the broadcast. I called Vic Cherubini, president of epic and gave him the job along with a tight deadline and a very conservative budget.  Vic and his team delivered an incredible animation in line with what you would expect to see on national TV."
